New Honda City India launch today: Price & Mileage Expectation

2020 Honda City, which was unveiled in India last month, is the fifth-gen model of the sedan. As we wait for its launch in a few hours, here is a rundown of its specs, features, expected price, etc.

New Honda City will be launched in India later today, which means it is now time to discuss one important detail: Price. But before we do that, allow us to quickly walk you through the basic stuff. The carmaker opened the 2020 Honda City bookings in India last month; those who are interested can do so either via a Honda dealership or the company’s website. If you opt for the latter, you will only need a token amount of ₹5,000.

On with the rest of the details then — 2020 Honda City, claimed to be longer and wider than rivals like Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, comes sporting a decidedly modern stance. This is rounded off by features like the sleek chrome grille, full LED headlamps, integrated DRL, L-shaped LED indicators, redesigned tail lights with Z-shaped LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, etc.

Honda has really upped the ante inside, providing plenty of new features and functionalities on the new-gen City. The upcoming sedan in India will come equipped with provisions such as automatic AC, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument panel, and a connected car system among other things.

For safety, the 2020 City will get airbags, ABS with EBD, lane-watch camera, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency stop signal, agile handling assist, etc.

New Honda City 2020 will be offered with a choice between two engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The new sedan’s petrol engine belts out 119 bhp with 145 Nm of peak torque, while the Honda City diesel’s engine generates 98 bhp with a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The list of transmission options offered with the petrol model include a six-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. But Honda City diesel will be available with just the manual gearbox.

Now that you have a fair idea of the car’s provisions, it is time to answer the question you came here for, i.e. new Honda City 2020 price in India. We reckon it will be some somewhere around ₹10.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
