A True Incident happened During Akbar’s era
Hanuman (हनुमान) is a Hindu god and a divine vanara companion of the god Rama. Hanuman is one of the central characters of the Hindu epic-Ramayana. He is an ardent devotee of Rama and one of the Chiranjivis. Hanuman is regarded to be the son of the wind-god Vayu, who in several stories played a direct role in Hanuman’s birth, and considered to be an incarnation or son of Shiva in Shaivism. Hanuman is mentioned in several other texts, such as the epic Mahabharata and the various Puranas.
Here we are sharing a true incident happened in the Akbar’s era of India. This incident was mentioned in three prominent western historians/scholars books:
- “Warrior ascetics and Indian empire” written by William Pinch. (published by Cambridge University)
- “Hanuman’s Tale: The message of a Divine Monkey” written by Philip Lutgendorf. (published by Oxford University)
- “Darsan: Seeing the divine image in India” by Diana L. Eck.
During this time writer of Shri Ramcharitmanas Goswami Shri Tulsidas Ji was living in Varanasi spreading the divine nectar of Ram Katha among common people.
One day a lady touched the feet of Tulsidas Ji and he bestowed her : Akhand Saubhagyawati Bhava!” which means to happily be with her husband till eternity.
Lady cried and said to Tulsidas Ji: “Baba my husband died few moments back. We are taking his death body for last rituals. How can I be Akhand Saubhagyawati baba?”
Tulsidas Ji replied: “Whatever came from my mouth was the wish of Shri Ram and it will not go in vain!”
Saying this he asked everyone out there to close their eyes and to chant “Ram Ram” with whole heart.
And in a few moments the widowed lady’s husband got up from the death bed as if he was sleeping.
“A death man was bring back to life by Tulsidas Ji by the power of Ram Naam!”
This incident went viral and spread across the length and breadth of India that time, also to the Mughal court. Finance Minister Todarmal and spiritual poet Rahim Das ji elaborated the divine powers of Tulsidas Ji to Akbar in very high regards.
Listening to this, Akbar demanded Tulsidas Ji to come to Fatehpur Court and show him some magic but Tulsidas Ji denied his invitation. Later Akbar sent his troops and with extreme adamancy he was able to get Tulsidas Ji into his Fatehpur Sikri Palace finally.
“Show me some magic also Baba” said Akbar mockingly.
“I do not perform any magic. I only chant Ram Ram Ram Ram” replied Tulsidas Ji.
Akbar repeatedly demanded any sort of magic and Tulsidas Ji denied every single time. Hearing this denial again and again, Akbar became extremely angry and he put Tulsidas Ji into prison.
Ganga river bed or jail everything is one or the same for a Saint.
In jail, Tulsidas Ji created a Stotra which is the most powerful prayer of today’s time and is Amogh, he did sadhana of that stotra by reciting it 108 times for 40 days straight in the prison.
On the 40′th day of reciting this Stotra, a miracle happened…..
Thousands and thousands of monkeys came out of nowhere and attacked the city of Fatehpur Sikri. They started to destroy the whole city including the palace, markets as well as slapping hurting the residents of Akbar’s palace including him also.
This chaos continued for a bit and Akbar was totally helpless, meanwhile an old wise man of his court suggested him to free Tulsidas Ji in the first moment otherwise these monkeys will not only take his kingdom but his life also in no time.
Akbar without wasting any time, freed Tulsidas ji, bowed before him and sent him to Varanasi with utmost respect and honor.
And this was not done, in few days time Akbar moved his capital from Fatehpur Sikri to Lahore and then Agra for some unavoidable (obvious) reasons.
This Stotra created in jail was Shri Hanuman Chalisa!
From then onwards Hanuman Chalisa continues to free bhaktas from physical/ mental/ emotional prison without failing a single time.
Recently a bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt recalled his prison experiences where he used to read Hanuman Chalisa 108 times most of the time.
One night he read Hanuman Chalisa and when he woke up, he saw a monkey sitting on the tree in front of his barrack’s window. That was the day when Supreme Court passed the order of his release from jail.
Power of Ram Bhakt Hanuman always!
